Advance notice: Carnivalesque

There will soon be a second issue of Carnivalesque, the early modern blog carnival, to be hosted by Brandon at Houyhnhmn Land. More details to come: this is just to alert you all, and if you’re an early modernist (or any blogger with early modern interests - say late 15th through to early 19th centuries) who hasn’t blogged anything on the period lately, you have a few days to post something that could be included! (It doesn’t need to be very long, or terribly scholarly…)

Sounds fun. I’m looking forward to it.

Early 19th C? That’s pretty generous. Nonetheless, I have been thinking about Martin Bucer and the Abendmahlstreit, so maybe I will whip something up.

Yes, I’m being ultra-generous (and this without actually consulting the host… er, Brandon, is that OK?) in this definition to encourage a good wide range of potential entries. I don’t mind reeling in a few late-medievalists either. The more the merrier, etc. If you have time to come up with something on Bucer, that sounds good.

Yes, it’s OK - in fact I would have intended something of the sort even if you hadn’t; it varies from discipline to discipline, and from place to place, but I do philosophy, and I’ve argued that in Britain, for instance, the early modern period for philosophy doesn’t end until about the time Darwin begins to write.
