Soon, I’ll be home, and I’ll have a helluva lot of work to do - course preparation, sorting out all this research… and, oh yes, writing. I’ve been extremely indulgent with this blog so far, since while I’ve been in London, a) I haven’t had a TV (or, indeed, a social life) to distract me, and b) it’s great relaxation after days and days slogging in the archives. But it can’t continue at quite this rate.
I’ve been amazed at how quickly I took to blogging (have I really been doing this for less than 6 months?), and how rapidly it’s taken off. (People out there like me! Wow!). I’ve been looking at my site stats, and visitors have doubled since I moved to my new host and launched EMN at this URL in July - much of that traffic to the blog itself; this main page got nearly 14,000 hits in October. Small beer compared to some of the biggies, but not bad for an academic history blog with a fairly narrow focus.
We shall see how it goes. There’s no way I’m going to stop blogging now, but things will have to slow down for a while at least. Bear with me, dear readers. Still, you can help me out a little. If output is going to be more limited, what would you most like to see?
.
I sometimes think the searches people are doing to find the site are pretty dull compared to some (but at least they’re not creepy/icky, I suppose). I suspect a few people looking for the one and only Bitch PhD were a bit disappointed, and probably those after photos of the TV presenter Bettany Hughes too.
But these were mildly diverting:
‘class notes on the savage wars of peace’
‘puritan fashion pictures’
’super university comments’
‘crazy litigation suits’
‘nice lovely texts’
‘ignorance of history’ (some naive undergraduate who hasn’t realised just what a vast topic that is yet?)
4 comments on “Likely changes in the near future”
‘crazy litigation suits’
Ha. Was reading quickly and thougth it said “crazy litigation sluts”
Now that would be really funny.
I keep getting searches for Jim Cantore nude and Anderson Cooper nude. Sure, I’d love to see ‘em nude too, but I do not have photos to share.
Not sure I even know who they are, but I’ll take your word for it that they’re hot. Bettany has a new series on Channel 4 coming up - just seen a trailer of her wandering around ruins in a rather sexy outfit, and no doubt will do her usual breathy routine (like a cross between Simon Schama and Nigella Lawson). History porn, heaven help us.
Ah. Well you must see.
Anderson is on CNN.
Jim Cantore is on The Weather Channel and is a rugged adventurer.
Aha. Cantore, not my thing at all really. Anderson, now, definitely getting warm.
So presumably now I’ll get searches for them in the nude too?
