I read the novel a few weeks ago, so am quite looking forward to the TV adaptation. It will be interesting to see how many times Davies has chosen to violate the ‘Mull of Kintyre rule’: an authentic adaptation would have to do so very frequently indeed, thus becoming the most sexually explicit thing shown on British television. Mary Whitehouse would be appalled!
I’m wondering if we might be about to witness the unthinkable: an Andrew Davies adaptation that’s less racy than the original…
