Philobiblion
Checking out links to EMN at Technorati, I stumbled across a pretty new (July) blog, Philobiblion, that I’m adding to the blogroll (along with some other new additions today). But I wanted to draw your attention to this one since it has lots of medieval and early modern stuff and is fun to read too. Hi Natalie!

I’m honoured by your compliments, since I’m new at this game. I enjoyed your post above, and can back up your comments about it being unusually clear and neat. I’ve been working in the British Library (where unfortunately you caren’t allowed to take pics) on letters from a British spy in Utrecht in 1685, which were about this level of legibility; but then I moved on to some depositions on the Monmouth rebellion, which were a lot worse.

Ummm. They’re extremely variable. You have beautiful clear hands from some JPs, and others - yuck, virtually illegible. None of this does much for my (already crummy) eyesight…
Pity about the BL not accepting cameras. I need to go to the National Library of Wales later this week and I have a nasty feeling they’ll take the BL’s position rather than the PRO’s. Which is a pity because there’s so much in the NLW archives that I’d love to have photos of. But it might be worth asking anyway.
